School Assignment Blog #1(Physical Activity)

I always write about obesity because that's what I seem to feel most strongly about.  But I think it is a good idea for me to write about physical activity.
Many people when you say exercise think about how they are going to sweat and how much of a chore that working out can me.  And when you say physical activity, some might not understand the difference.  Well the difference between physical activity and exercise is that physical activity is activities that you do throughout the day such as housework, yardwork, etc. and exercise is planned such as running or swimming, etc.  A lot of people complain about how they want to lose weight and how they are not happy with their body.  Well even though proper nutrition and portion control is a part of that physical activity is only an extra benefit too that.
Physical activity and exercise can be fun if you let them be.  It could be playing a game outside with family such as baseball or soccer.  If the activity gets your heart rate above resting levels and you are breathing harder than normal than you are getting in moderate activity.  Yes you can even consider the dog pulling you down the sidewalk on is 30min walk an exercise!
Ways that physical activity can be fun is to take a partner with you.  You can play a game or even come up with the activities together.  When doing a physical activity together(jogging) even though it might be something hard for you, you might be able to forget about what you are doing if you have someone to talk to you and distract you from the specific exercise.  Another way to make physical activity fun is to make a game out of it.  See which person can get something done the fastest.  Even if it is a game with the kids when they are little, play baseball with them or go ice skating with them.
Do physical activity for a sport you enjoy or used to participate in.  If you remember doing childhood sports and loved every minute of it then do some kind of activity that reminds you of that sports.  This can bring back old memories, but remember don't go overboard and think you might be young again and can still do all those things.
It is important at any age(young, adult, older adult) to make sure you get enough physical activity in your day(30min) in order to see health benefits.  And you might even lose weight by increasing your physical activity levels.  If you always say you don't have time, then think about some of the excuses you use to not do physical activity! No time(this excuse is as old as the book itself)! Everyone has time for physical activity, they just choose not to do it.  Go for a walk on your lunch break, or after you get home take the dogs for a walk because they have plenty of energy to get rid of if they've been couped up all day in the house(they might even be tired when they get back).
